Ollie Cake, Leam Gould and Rob O’Sullivan, all booked to appear on the Programme at Southampton.
Ollie first to tread the canvas receives a rapturous welcome, having built up a worthy reputation on the boxing circuit, never failing to disappoint, a great ambassador for The Dorchester ABC.
Ollie stands waiting for his opponent waving his fist in the air cranking the atmosphere up to boiling point. Ollie alone can generate a huge crowd and takes on Teaken Prior from Wells who stopped his last opponent. The bout can only be described as a phenomenal battle of wits with both boxers hungry for the win.
Teaken pounced in the first lunging at his prey hoping to end it, but Ollie gave out some brutal double and treble left hooks. The second saw punches coming in bunches from Ollie a lightning close body shot made Teaken back off. The crowd are cheering Ollie on, appreciating the punishing toe to toe round.
Teaken mounted his final onslaught in the last round digging hard to the head and the body. Ollie took some punches getting through to the target. Has Teaken done enough to get the decision? The local lad gets the win by majority.
Double Jab, a top London Club, broke down in transit so unfortunately Leam Gould’s opponent was towed back home.
Part-time model Rob O’ Sullivan exercises at The Dorchester ABC to keep his six pack in trim and took on Charlie Quinn from host club the Golden Ring Stable.
Rob looking in tremendous condition for his debut bout jumping the ropes in front of a noisy capacity filled arena. The lavish Southampton show was more like Vegas in noise, size and splendour, boasting a crowd of a thousand strong.
The first round saw Robbie getting stuck in, out working Charlie with his positive greased smooth style. Rob delivered a crashing right hand blow which left Charlie frantically trying to hold on. Charlie sustained a booming volley which had the fans screaming again. Rob tried to keep moving ahead in the second uncoiling scything lefts and rights. The swollen features from both boxers were beginning to tell the tale that this was serious business.
The third saw Rob measuring up the opposition as he fiercely began ripping away amid more thunderous cheers from the fans.
Heads clashing, elbows? Rob emerges with a bleeding nose which the Referee looked at. Rob although having trouble breathing wanted to box on and was actually firing more shots than Charlie. At the final bell both boxers thought that they had both done enough to get the decision, but it went to the Southampton lad.
Ben Geyser said that both lads boxed well showing good natural ring talent. Again Ollie’s variety of combinations were a treat to watch and Rob showed he was a real talented tough guy entering a hard game.
Madam Mayor Susie Hosford seen here at one of her latter engagements giving encouragement and showing enthusiasm to some of the young Dorchester Boxers who ran to raise money for the New Gym.
