Rodney Dalley made an award winning start in his first bout for Dorchester. Boxers were attracted to the show piece from more than a dozen of the top clubs in the country.
Once the action got under way he experienced Wayland was looking to dictate proceedings against Dalley with his right jab, however Dalley stayed calm as well as being positive in defence, and located Wayland’s chin several times.
After Dalley caught his opponent with another right at the end of the first round. Wayland responded and tried to regain the initiative with a rapid flurry of punches.
A topsy-turvy encounter continued in round two as both fighters landed shots, but it was Dalley who looked stronger, nailing Wayland with some heavy combinations and catching his lip.
Despite Wayland matching everything that was thrown at him, the referee decided enough was enough and stopped the bout in favour of Dalley.
